Paul Horton,
Sustainability Consultant

Sustainability specialist Paul Horton believes in the power of regular people working together to change what is currently considered possible. His optimism comes from experience: twenty years of high-impact leadership in both non-profit and private sectors. As co-founder of Climate Solutions, he led the organization to become the premier voice for solutions to global climate change in the Pacific Northwest. Climate Solutions is now a thriving non-profit, with an annual budget of $1.5 million , and has gained a reputation nationally for being on the cutting-edge.

Paul is an innovator with a long history of leading change towards sustainability. He served as Director of Sustainability for the Portland, OR based engineering firm David Evans and Associates, Inc.. He was one of a small group that attended a five day training in The Natural Step (TNs), a science-based environmental education and management tool. Today he is a (TNS) USA Associate, one of nine sustainability professionals that serve as an extension to TNS staff and act as a go-to-expert for TNS trainings and consulting engagements. He also co-founded and is currently vice chair of the new North American Sustainable Transportation Council and co-developer of STARS, the Sustainable Transportation Access Rating System.

Paul describes his work as client centered and mission driven. As Principal of Paul Horton Consulting Group, he has provided sustainability training and strategic planning for a variety of organizations among them the Washington State Department of Corrections, Washington State Department of Ecology, Port Gamble S’Kallum Tribe, Squaxin Island Tribe and the Evergreen State College. His approach combines cutting-edge principles of organizational change and strategic planning with an eye for optimal social, economic, and environmental outcomes.

Paul Horton is a formidable resource in the field of sustainability and we welcome his expertise as we look forward to a future that is good for the planet and for all.
