Marcia Morgan,

Marcia Morgan has worked in the criminal justice field over 35 years, starting her career as a deputy sheriff, a correctional officer, researcher, lobbyist and presently as a national consultant with expertise in training, curriculum development, research, assessment and evaluation, gender issues, and criminal justice.

Marcia has worked with many national and international agencies including the National Institute of Justice, National Institute of Corrections, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Housing and Urban Development, and many local, state and federal agencies. She has worked in South Korea, Brazil, Malaysia, England, Australia, and Germany. With the US Army at the Pentagon, she researched and helped develop a sex offender protocol for the military. She has conducted qualitative and quantitative research for adult and juvenile justice agencies and health programs.

For the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), she and a colleague wrote the curriculum, Partnerships for Safe Schools (2001).

Additionally, she worked on the curriculum Beyond Trauma with Dr. Stephanie Covington on trauma recovery and substance abuse for women, authored Gender-responsiveness in Criminal Justice Settings training program for jails in Chicago, a facilitator's curriculum for the Girls Circle Association, Female Offenders part of the Carey Guides-Effective Case Management, SafeTOUCH curriculum on child abuse prevention, and the Gender-Responsive Training for Corrections Specialists for the US Navy Brig at Miramar.

As a consultant with the National Institute of Corrections, she has conducted qualitative research at men's and women's prisons around the US (Indiana, California, Georgia, Oregon, Washington, Vermont, etc.) examining prison culture issues, staff sexual misconduct and prison rape. She has worked with the Moss Group in Washington, D.C. since 2004 on the Prison Rape Elimination Act.

Marcia and a colleague were the original developers of the "Anatomical Dolls", now used worldwide in interviews with sexually abused children. She authored How to Interview Sexual Abuse Victims, Sage Publications (1995), now in three languages. She also wrote My Feelings, a children's book on teaching them to trust their instincts about OK and Not OK touches. It was one of three safety books recommended on "Good Morning America." In the 1970's, she headed up one of the first all-female rape investigation programs in the country in Eugene, Oregon.

Marcia received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Oregon State University, a Master's degree in Community Service/Public Affairs and a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Oregon, and was in the doctoral program at the University of Oregon.
